Here’s everything you need to know about Silvio, his goals, and how fiskaly is shaping the future of fiscalization in Italy with our cutting-edge solution, SIGN IT.

Meet Silvio Agresti: his vision for a seamless transition to a cloud-based fiscal model

Silvio joined fiskaly with a wealth of experience in venture capital, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

First, for context, what was your journey before joining fiskaly?

I studied Management & Finance but I’ve always been drawn to tech environments. I started out in Venture Capital, investing in tech startups across different countries. The best part? Meeting talented people and getting exposed to cutting-edge technology. But at some point, I realized that being on the investment side meant always watching from the outside, you’re not really in the game. That’s what pushed me to switch sides and start building companies. I co-founded a tech startup, worked on venture-building projects, and helped big corporations figure out how to collaborate with and invest in startups.

Launching a new product in a new market is a lot like venture building: it demands adaptability, lean teams, and managing uncertainty. I’ve learned a lot through wins, mistakes, and everything in between, and I hope those lessons will be incredibly valuable in my role at fiskaly.

And as the new Italy Country Manager, what are your goals?

fiskaly has seen great success since its foundation, with our cloud solutions becoming the de facto standard in highly regulated markets like Germany. Now, Italy is undergoing a major digital transformation, that will impact over 2 million businesses.

In my new role, my goal is for fiskaly Italy not just to participate in this shift, but to lead it. As a European leader in Cloud Fiscalization, we’ve helped shape markets like Germany, and we aim to do the same in Italy—helping businesses transition smoothly while unlocking new opportunities for growth and innovation. But none of this is possible without a strong foundation. A key priority for me is ensuring we operate at peak efficiency, with strong execution, alignment, and collaboration driving our impact.

What are the biggest challenges you expect to face as Italy’s Country Manager, and how do you plan to handle them?

fiskaly is a well-established brand in Europe, but in Italy, we're still quite “the new kid on the block”. The main challenge is navigating the regulatory landscape, as change always brings uncertainty. Staying ahead means working closely with institutions and stakeholders to help shape the market and ensure smooth adoption.

Another key challenge is driving market adoption. Many businesses still rely on legacy systems, and while cloud fiscalization offers clear benefits, building trust is essential. Our strategy will focus on education, strong partnerships, and showcasing the efficiency of our solutions.

And lastly, what do you think makes the Italian market unique?

Even though I’ve spent much of my career abroad, I’m unapologetically Italian—and Italy is a paradox, especially when it comes to technology and innovation. We were pioneers in fiscalization, among the first to introduce regulatory measures, yet we still rely on outdated legacy systems and lag behind in cloud adoption. Italians have a deep-rooted love for hardware, shaped by a strong manufacturing tradition. The idea that a receipt must be physically held or that a device requires a tangible presence is still widely accepted, even though it hasn’t been legally required since 2019.

What truly defines the Italian fiscalization market, especially in hospitality and retail, is the key role hardware dealers have played not just in logistics, but in shaping economic and relational dynamics. Moving to cloud-based fiscalization isn’t just about technology; it’s a structural shift that will challenge existing business models, reshape long-standing relationships, and face strong resistance to change. At the same time, it opens the door to new opportunities and innovation.
