fiskaly. strengthens cloud-based fiscalization with acquisition of DF Deutsche Fiskal GmbH
fiskaly acquires DF Deutsche Fiskal GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of GK Software SE, with the aim of jointly developing innovative solutions for the German market and launching them in other European markets.
fiskaly will benefit from Deutsche Fiskal's deep understanding of German fiscalisation requirements and will strengthen its unique technological expertise through the acquisition. Founded in 2019, fiskaly’s services are used in over 600,000 points of sale such as cash registers. The company's fiscalisation solutions are also used by more than 1,000 B2B customers including large retail chains and leading providers of POS systems such as orderbird, Lightspeed, SumUp and ready2order.
While fiskaly is regarded as an innovative leader in the field of cloud-based fiscalisation, Deutsche Fiskal has established itself as a reliable partner for store-based retail. The combination of the two companies creates a strong basis for unlocking the market potential in Europe and is an important step on the way to ensuring sustainable fiscal compliance in Germany.
Since June 2024, Verdane, a European private equity firm specialising in growth capital, has been working in partnership with fiskaly as it develops into Europe's leading provider of cloud-based fiscalisation. In particular, Verdane is supporting fiskaly in expanding its existing market position in Germany, Spain and Austria as well as in its international expansion.
Security and continuity for customers
For existing Deutsche Fiskal customers, everything will remain as usual as all existing services and solutions will continue unchanged under the new owner fiskaly. Hence, Deutsche Fiskal will remain a reliable partner for store-based retailers. By combining the expertise of both companies, customers will benefit even more from innovative and future-proof solutions.
Johannes Ferner, CEO of fiskaly, said:
The acquisition of Deutsche Fiskal by fiskaly is an important step in further developing cloud-based fiscalisation solutions in Germany. Together, we will drive forward digitalisation in this area and offer our customers a secure and flexible solution that will become even more powerful in the future. Our clear goal is to combine the benefits of cloud-based fiscalisation with comprehensive compliance and efficiency. Moreover, Deutsche Fiskal's customers will benefit from fiskaly's international experience in the future. We started our business in Austria and have recently expanded to Spain and Italy. We are also working on a solution that enables fiscalisation in other European countries simply via an interface.
As part of the transaction, all Deutsche Fiskal employees will be taken over. Managing directors Matthias Robeck and Michael Scheibner will leave the company but remain active as advisors to the company. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The acquisition is expected to be completed on 31 March 2025. Deutsche Fiskal will continue to operate in its current set-up under the new owner, fiskaly, and will continue to provide its solutions as a reliable partner to its previous owner, GK Software.
Martin Breidenbach, previously Vice President Development and Cloud Operations at Deutsche Fiskal, is appointed Managing Director of Deutsche Fiskal and will play a key role in its integration and further development.
Martin Breidenbach, new Managing Director of Deutsche Fiskal, adds:
I am looking forward to actively shaping the future of Deutsche Fiskal together with fiskaly. Our customers can continue to rely on us as a stable and trusted partner, while at the same time we combine the innovative strength of both companies to continuously develop our solutions.
Michael Scheibner, CEO of GK Software, comments:
We founded Deutsche Fiskal six years ago to help our customers and other large retailers overcome the challenges of fiscalisation in Germany. Deutsche Fiskal has done a great job and developed a leading cloud solution that has set new standards in terms of performance and transaction volumes. We would particularly like to thank Matthias Robeck, whose expertise and entrepreneurial skills have played a decisive role in shaping Deutsche Fiskal, and the entire Deutsche Fiskal team for their outstanding achievements. I am confident that Deutsche Fiskal will continue to be an excellent partner for GK under its new ownership.
